Tei's Final MSB Project

This is the website for Tei's Final MSB Project, which tests human adaptability and neuroplasticity.

This was partially inspired by SmarterEveryDay's YouTube Video, where the presenter goes into great depth about his experience of learning to ride a bicycle which has gears such that the wheel goes in the opposite direction of where the handle points.
This project attempts to conduct a more comprehensive investigation into this phenomenon by testing all permutations of the arrow keys on a keyboard, and then performing statistical tests based on the data.

Getting Started

  1. Determine the set of variations that you are to test with the testing coordinator.
  2. You must take the test on a device that has a keyboard attached to it (no mobile phones, an iPad with a bluetooth keyboard should work)
  3. Have a stopwatch nearby to keep track of the number of minutes you have practiced for.

The Testing Procedure

  1. Begin your stopwatch.
  2. Go to the training page by selecting the 'Games' button at the top of the navbar, and then to the variation number that you are supposed to train.
  3. Read the instructions on the right of the game panel for more information about the game page.
  4. After 1 minute passes, pause the stopwatch.
  5. Go to the testing page by selecting the 'Tests' button at the top of the navbar, and then to the variation number that you are supposed to train.
  6. Read the instructions in the right of the test panel.
  7. Repeat the testing procedure 5 times.
  8. Go back to the game page for that particular variation.
  9. Resume the timer and repeat the entire procedure after practicing 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes.
